I slept in yet again, got up and went over the road to the market . It is more of a tapas food court than a market. There is a stall there that sell little sausages in little rolls with chopped up little bits of tomato, green pepper and onion. I get the one with a chilli on it and add mustard – delicious( I ate the chilli before taking the photo )

Then I walked down to the Thyseen-Bornemisza museum they had a temporary surrealism exhibition on as well their permanent exhibition. The “surrealism and the dream” was very good . They did a very good job of showing the relationship of the surrealist art style and a dream.  The main permanent exhibition was amazing it seemed to have a bit of a happy theme in a lot of the paintings. This may not be evident in the series of crooked pictures to follow but i felt it.  😉

a Joseph Cornell box. I am a bit of a Cornell fan so that was fun to see.

I was going to visit the Prada museum but my back has been a bit sore from the hard mattress at the apartment so I had a quick lunch 2013-10-09 15.33.32 2013-10-09 15.24.39

I don't mind tossing a couple of coins to dudes that put some effort in to get money from the tourists

this book would be hard pressed to create a g and t as good as my Dad made. He made the perfect gin and tonic.

I used the 2nd day of my hop on hop off bus, it isn’t as well organised as previous hop on hop off buses and it doesn’t offer discounts to museums. It was good to suss out the lay out of the land though. I came back to my hood and went to the market over the road from my apartment and had some of the best oysters I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a few. I thought I should go out and about and see what it is like after dark , so I went for a bit of a walk, it didn’t last long though ’cause it didn’t feel all that safe. It is a pity that there are so many beggars and people that look like they are up to no good. I do not even feel safe carrying my credit card with me. There is a heavy police presence though so that is good and for every police officer there is about a dozen taxis that is good if you need a taxi.

  1. I like Joseph Cornell too. I did a presentation about him in Art History at uni – the shadow boxes appeal to the collector of awesome objects in me!
