a quick update

Standard

So it was time to learn the ways of the Metro , thankfully I had two lovely guides from Melbourne to show me the way to do it all. I don’t know how I would have managed otherwise. Thanks Katha and Celia! 😀  Being in threes on the Metro is quite handy. It means two people can shield you from the beggars while you are buying your tickets. On my first trip through the turnstile I even got a bit of an introductory slap on the bottom from the turnstile. Oh la la.. We went to Galleries Lafayette and Printemps both these shops have the most amazing ceilings.

Everything was rather expensive. I saw a jumper I really liked ( if it was a different colour) it was so soft. It was a mere 1200 euros. CRIKEY! I’ll have one in every colour thanks.  I was a little disappointed that French products like Chanel and Arche were no cheaper in France than they are in Australia. I have always wanted a pair of Arche shoes. The toilets in the LaFayette were lovely. The ones in Printemp cost 1.50 Euro and had things for sale , with display cabinets in the actual cubicle .

We went to a cafe on the Champs-Élysées , initially we sat in a tent on the street but then it seemed like everyone lit a cigarette at the same time so we made a swift exit to go inside where there was no smoke.

After lunch we trekked up to the Arc de Triomphe and climbed the 284 stairs to the top. The view was worth the climb.

I wish I had’ve had my Nike watch counting the kilometres we walked. It felt like miles by the end of the day I didn’t want to see another stair for at least 7 hours.

  1. Hi Bron we are at the farm in the cold and wet reading your wonderful blog and feel like we are RIGHT THERE. Enjoying your voyage a lot. Have you tried the macaroons yet? What to make of them…..?

    • Thanks Ian. I haven’t eaten a macaroon made on French soil yet. I will though. I am more of a savoury person but I do love a croisaant. My French speaking skills can get me through a transaction at a bakery as well

  2. Bron so pleased you caught up with Foxy and Celia and had such an amazing day together. I am beginning to feel quite envious! Keep safe and having fun. Love Julie xo
